A little bit later in the morning 04/24/2025

If anyone out there in the world is reading this: we are running low on supplies. We are in dire need of ice, salt, limes, tequila, and margarita mix. Just kidding. But for real.

It’s the sunniest day here in Gloom County, and rumor in the maternity ward is that the temp is going to get up there into the 70’s outside. When we got here last night we were so grateful to see that our room has windows…but now Katrina is attempting to take a nap and sun is the enemy. The shades in our room serve about as much purpose as the free condoms that they put in a bowl at the check out desk at the OB Dr’s office. It’s okay to laugh.

With a pillow over her face and the room nice and cool, Katrina attempts to sleep. Oh yeah, Katrina is having contractions more consistently now too by the way. They’re short, the nurse said around 40 seconds each. And they are still pretty spread out. I think about a 40 second contraction and it seems like ‘short’ isn’t the word I would pick to describe it.

I have no idea how she is really feeling or what she is going through but I’ll be right here for her, asking questions and sharing these updates until I take over as her breathing coach like you see in the movies. She might try and kill me but at this point I think I can out run her.

We have time. We have patience. We have a lot of love between each other and the love that is surrounding us (all of you guys).  What we still don’t have are the supplies I mentioned earlier but it’s okay.

This will all be over before we know it. Trust me that we are not wishing the time away - we just really would like to get past all the anticipation and unknowns.

Keep checking back! I’ll be here all week.
