1:30 PM Several stubbed toes later
It’s now 1:30 PM and we just got back to the room from a little hall walking. The sight seeing on our little hike was limited, lots of empty birthing suites, a nurses station, and a group of windows that overlook an open area of dead space that the hospital was built around.
We walked down the hall and back twice and you wouldn’t have heard us coming if the IV pole didn’t get in the way of Katrina’s toes a few times. She says that the pain of the stubbed toes takes away from the pain of contractions. Modern problems require modern solutions? Right?
We’re back in the room now and Katrina is - as you might expect - more tired than before we took to the halls. Now we are waiting for someone to come in and increase the Petocin from 12 to 14 units. We also think there may be another cervical exam in the near future.
Daylight is burning and we are starting to wonder if labor will carry us into tomorrow. Delivering Everly tomorrow instead of today would mean that Everly and her dad share a birthday. (Sorry Bill Stasko)
The nurse popped in just now. She checked vitals and increased the Petocin to 14 units. Katrina asked for something to eat and much to our surprise they’re letting her have buttered toast. This will probably be the last snack she gets so I know Katrina will be sure to enjoy it. Check yelp for a glowing review of this place.
We got a quick update on the Pook because who doesn’t love a good doggy update. Our friend Phil went back over to the apartment to let her out and he opened the door so find her waiting right behind it. She got excited, peed a little, and after that was cleaned up he took her outside where she peed twice more. Once back inside, she ran up the stairs and hid under the bed. We joke and say that she should have come with us for emotional support but the truth is our emotional support dog needs an emotion support dog. Thank you Phil for taking care of Freya during this time. It definitely helps her to see a familiar face even though she retreats to the bed as quickly as possible. We are so lucky to be able to rely on you.
So this update comes to an end. There’s still some slight discomfort and she’s still just breathing through it. I’m talking about Katrina now, not the dog. I’ll let you know more when more happens. We won’t be going anywhere anytime soon!
